Welfare Economics, National Health Expenditures, Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP, Prescription Drugs (Industry, Benefits, and Regulation), Drivers to Healthcare Reform; 12 2 hour sessions.

Same as Econ 467 plus: 1) Guest Lectures (multiple), 2) Cost effectiveness analysis in healthcare, 3) Managed Care, 4) Healthcare Quality, 5) Compliance; 6) Provider Management, 7) Health sector equity research, 8) End of Life Care and financing; 9) Employer Benefits; 27 80 minute sessions

Requires Microeconomics as a pre-requisite.

With permission of the Professor. It is strongly suggested that you take MGT 698 or HPA 560

EPH students should not have taken MGT 698. Other graduate students should speak with Professor Forman before enrolling.

Eligiblity/Pre-requisites

Economics, EP&E and Economic/Math Majors Only; Usual requirements

SOM students OR by permission of the instructor; Must be facile with Economics and have a serious interest in finance and healthcare finance. Please talk to me (HPF) if you have questions.

Undergraduates must have micro-economics background, either through Yale course or waiver of requirement

Undergraduate experience in microeconomics is helpful.
