Objectives: To provide Healthcare Management students with an opportunity to learn from healthcare leaders about their current careers and the paths that brought them there.

Prerequisites:  You must be a joint degree student or a physician to enroll. Others will be considered, with approval of the Course Director.

Format:  The course is structured to be an intimate seminar style session. Thus, attendance is mandatory. In order to receive credit, students must document that they have attended 20 such sessions during their 2 years at the School of Management.

Requirements:

This document should be suitable for publication in Health Affairs. The Paper is to focus on 3 or more areas in which this leader has improved healthcare on a local, national, or international level AND the lessons that can be learned about how effective leadership promoted better health and healthcare.
  2. Attendance is required. Students will be allowed to miss up to 4 sessions during their final two years in the program (the two years for which they are SOM matriculates).  For each additional absence, they will be required to submit one additional essay, as in #1 above.
  3. In order to be eligible to receive a grade of distinction, the students will be required to submit their essay for publication, and have the essay graded as being genuinely publishable by the Course Director.
